We know the value of exposing children to various languages during these early years, and have made our classroom a place to see, hear and speak Spanish throughout the day. The entire school is labeled in both English and Spanish. We listened to our families in our program wanted more language, specifically Spanish in our program. We are beginning to use a curriculum specifically created to teach 3-5 year old’s Spanish through a play based method and have increased the amount of Spanish learning throughout the day.

When children learn “whole language” and not just isolated vocabulary, they remember and are able to use the words the word they learned. This is the key to successful language immersion. Children will be learning songs in both Spanish and English that relate to all the topics we cover throughout the year. We also will be reading books in Spanish on occasion as well and frequently will play Spanish stories or music during some of the snack times.
